Habitat for Humanity San Francisco
VOLUNTEER SERVICES MANAGER


Position Summary

Habitat for Humanity San Francisco (HHSF) partners with working
families and engages the community to build homeownership. This
full-time position reports to and works closely with the Executive
Director of Habitat for Humanity San Francisco (HHSF) to ensure
stability and sustainable growth of organization. This position will
primarily recruit and manage HHSF's volunteers in San Francisco and
Marin Counties. It is Habitat for Humanity San Francisco's goal to
have the best volunteer experience in the Bay Area—the role of
Volunteer Services Manager is designed for someone who shares this
vision.


Primary Responsibilities
Volunteer Program Development:

· Implement HHSF's volunteer services program, which involves
recruitment, screening, retention and appreciation of volunteers for
the office, committees and construction sites

· Oversee development of job descriptions for volunteer
positions within HHSF

· Create and/or update volunteer manuals, kiosks, e-newsletter
and collateral materials for the construction site, committees and the
office

· Update and develop policies and documents relevant to group
and corporate volunteering

· Distribute and review evaluation materials (via Survey Monkey
and other tools) for volunteers

· Advance HHSF's corporate team-building volunteer program
Volunteer Training:

· Develop training program to identify, develop and retain
volunteer leaders, specifically for construction site team leaders

· Conduct volunteer orientations for individuals, groups and
corporations


Volunteer Recruitment:

· Develop community involvement strategies, specifically with
the goal of recruiting at least 40% of volunteers within the
organization directly from the communities where HHSF is building

· Create partnerships with job training programs that train
low-income and underserved San Francisco/Marin youth and adults in the
construction trade while building Habitat homes


Volunteer Placement and Scheduling:

· Utilize on-line (Volunteer Hub) scheduling system to place
volunteers on the construction site

· Identify needs for expanding this on-line volunteer management system

· Schedule all construction group volunteers via phone or
email, and refer volunteers interested in other areas to appropriate
departments


Volunteer Appreciation and Retention:

· Plan and coordinate ongoing volunteer appreciation events
and activities

· Identify ways to improve the volunteer experience to
increase the number of return volunteers


Organizational Responsibilities:

· Work closely with staff to support mission and carry out
policy set by Board of Directors

· Increase community awareness of HHSF's work, by attending
community meetings, networking with representatives from the community
and forming relationships with community leaders

· Increase public awareness about the need for affordable
housing, and the ways to increase the stock of affordable housing in
San Francisco

· Recruit and supervise Volunteer & Interfaith Coordinator
(currently through Lutheran Volunteer Corps), a full-time position

Other duties as assigned.


Recommended Skills and Qualifications

· Commitment to serving families with low-incomes and advancing
the critical call for affordable housing in San Francisco and Marin
Counties

· Outstanding written and oral communication skills

· Computer skills: Database, MS Word, Excel and Outlook (at minimum)

· Excel at multi-tasking with various projects and deadlines;
attention to detail a must

· Ability to work in a fast paced, open, team-oriented, casual
office setting

· Able to work nights and weekends as necessary

· Proven experience creating, developing and administering
programs, particularly volunteer and training programs

· Event planning experience

Preferred Qualifications:

· Fluency in Spanish and/or Cantonese highly desired

· Experience working in and with the communities of San
Francisco and Marin Counties

· 3 to 5 years work experience in nonprofit setting

- $50,000 DOE.
